‘Nugget’ Ninebark is a chartreuse leaved cultivar of this native species, Physocarpus opulifolius. Ninebark is a great native replacement for barbery due to its colors and upright / arching / vase shape. Nugget, compared to other cultivars like Monlo, Dart’s Gold, Royalty, and Center Glow, is a shorter variety, 3-6 feet depending on age and pruning.
Nugget Ninebark has white clusters of flowers along the stem. This is a shrub used by cut flower growers as foliage rather than for flowers.
Definitely plant Nugget Ninebark to brighten up part-sun areas or in full-sun. Planting in part-shade won’t grow very much.
